We’ve learnt over the years that there is no ‘one silver bullet solution’ for water.
Our skilled local partners work with communities together to choose appropriate water solutions that will reduce the time taken to collect water and provide communities an clean source that contributes to reducing the risk of disease.
Water – delivered by different local technologies; check out the solutions we use.
Shallow Rope Pump WellsThe Rope pump is a popular choice in rural Cambodia, when water can be found at depths of 10-15 metres. The pump is made from local parts that are easily available at the local market, making it easier for communities to repair.
Drilled Deep WellsSkilled drilling teams with local groundwater knowledge lift water out of deep aquifers. The water is tested for quality and fitted with a high quality hand pump.
Household Rainwater CollectionIn some parts of rural Cambodia, the groundwater is contaminated with high levels of poisonous natural arsenic. You can’t see it or taste it, but prolonged drinking exposure has been linked to cancer of the bladder, lungs, skin, kidney, nasal passages, liver and prostate. We work with communities to educate them on the massive health risks and provide them with a 4000 litre rain tank at the house – it’s a safe drinking source reducing the health risk and also the time to collect water.
Piped Water Systems
Bio-Sand FiltersIn many locations people have access to a contaminated water source, a bio-sand filter might be a better option, as it can filter bacteria and pathogens, making water safe to drink.
